More Japanese recipes seem to call for sake so that's what I started with, but I use them pretty much interchangeably now.Brookehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00983029824498134714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5264029211903356604.post-14108061202225817522011-03-28T08:29:40.181-06:002011-03-28T08:29:40.181-06:00Thanks Brooke! I do a fair amount of Japanese cooking, but I've always used that sherry cooking (I know:( ) and I'm noticing mirin is coming up more and more in the stuff I want to make, and I forgot to ckeck lucky 97 last time I was there. Is it more economical to use mirin or sake with a little sugar?Katrinanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5264029211903356604.post-65510622841798337132011-03-27T22:56:12.485-06:002011-03-27T22:56:12.485-06:00I buy mirin at T&T. It's in the aisle with oils/vinegar/cooking wines and will be labelled "hon-mirin" (possibly only in Japanese, but the price label will have it written in English). If you don't do a lot of Japanese cooking it's probably only necessary to have either sake or mirin on hand rather than both, so sake plus a little sugar is fine as a substitute.Brookehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00983029824498134714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5264029211903356604.post-11306852277803191822011-03-27T15:38:21.350-06:002011-03-27T15:38:21.350-06:00This recipe looks great.
